I agree that life is mostly full of shades of grey. In fact, I think many of my problems may stem from being too certain about some things.
On the other hand, a bit of certainty is necessary, in order to keep from just turning into Jell-O. So, today I want to list fifty things I really believe are true; no ifs, ands, or buts.
- All people are of equal worth.
- We have a duty to be concerned about the least of our brothers.
- Good friends will make it all better.
- Marriages only work if both parties are completely committed.
- Most poor people don’t deserve their plight.
- Most rich people have more than they need.
- There is a God out there and that has infinite love for us.
- Arguments rarely work.
- Forgiveness is for the forgiver.
- Life is better if we have the courage to take risks that are aligned with our biggest dreams.
- Unconditional love is the only kind of love that matters.
- We could all stand to listen more.
- Most people are way too hard on themselves.
- Most fears are irrational and optional.
- We are always free to choose our attitude.
- Most of us are as happy as we decide to be.
- Everyone has something truly good inside of them.
- We all are broken, in some way.
- Letting go has more to do with life satisfaction than possessions.
- There are many things that science will never be able to understand.
- It does not make sense to love your country and hate your government.
- Our country would be much better if we were less divided.
- It is better to give people the benefit of the doubt.
- Having children is about the greatest gift I could ever imagine.
- Treating people with kindness and respect works better.
- Civility is not weakness.
- Seatbelts and helmets are a good idea.
- Our lives would all be richer if we took more risks in our conversation.
- Most of us would be happier if we simplified our lives.
- I really don’t have the right to judge people.
- Truth works better in the long run.
- Reading makes us happier.
- I will never be able to find all of my socks.
- Changing the way we think will change our behavior and then our lives.
- Most of my problems can be solved by slowing down.
- The present moment is the only thing that matters.
- We are all as happy as we make up our minds to be.
- Sports do not matter (and that is why they are such a fun distraction.)
- Miracles happen.
- Connecting with people is as essential to survival as food and water

- It really helps to laugh
- Learning to feel things is important to having a happy life.
- Most fear is unnecessary
- We are all way too cautious
- There is a lot we can learn from old people.
- There is a lot to be learned from babies.
- Most of the religions in the world are based on the same underlying truths
- Atheism is a very far- fetched idea that is not supported by science.
- Authenticity matters.
So, these things are really, really true. For Me. I think. What is true for you?
